DTF Pressing Instructions

Follow these instructions to achieve a smooth, durable, and professional DTF transfer application. Pressing results may vary depending on the garment, transfer, and heat press being used.

Recommended Starting Settings

  • Temperature: 300°F–310°F (149°C–154°C)

  • Pressing Time: 8 - 15 seconds

  • Pressure: Medium to firm

  • Equipment: Commercial heat press recommended

These settings are a starting point. Always test before beginning a full production run.

Step 1: Prepare the Garment

Place the garment flat on the heat press and make sure the application area is clean, dry, and free from wrinkles.

Pre-press the garment for 3–5 seconds to remove moisture and create a smooth pressing surface.

Step 2: Position the Transfer

Place the DTF transfer on the garment with the printed design facing down. Confirm that the design is straight, centred, and positioned correctly before pressing.

Use heat-resistant tape when necessary to prevent the transfer from moving.

Step 3: Press the Transfer

Press the transfer at 300°F–310°F for 8 –15 seconds using medium to firm pressure.

Avoid opening the press before the complete pressing time has passed.

Step 4: Peel the Film

Remove the garment from the heat press and peel the film according to the transfer type supplied with your order.

Peel slowly and evenly. If any part of the design lifts from the garment, place the film back into position and press again for a few seconds.

Step 5: Complete the Finishing Press

Cover the design with parchment paper, kraft paper, or a finishing sheet. Press again for 5–10 seconds.

The finishing press helps improve the transfer’s durability and creates a smooth finished appearance.

Important Pressing Tips

  • Use a commercial heat press for consistent heat and pressure.

  • Do not use steam.

  • Avoid pressing over buttons, seams, zippers, or pockets.

  • Use a pressing pillow when necessary.

  • Make sure the garment is suitable for heat application.

  • Test unfamiliar fabrics before completing the full order.

  • Do not press directly onto the finished design without a protective sheet.

Polyester and Heat-Sensitive Garments

Polyester and other heat-sensitive materials may require a lower temperature or shorter pressing time to prevent scorching, discolouration, or dye migration.

Always review the garment manufacturer’s care information and test before production.

Washing and Care Instructions

For longer-lasting results:

  • Wait at least 24 hours before washing.

  • Turn the garment inside out.

  • Wash in cold or warm water.

  • Use a mild detergent.

  • Do not use bleach.

  • Tumble dry on low or hang dry.

  • Do not iron directly over the design.

  • Avoid dry cleaning unless the garment manufacturer permits it.

Important Notice

Heat presses, fabrics, and temperature readings can vary. Fresh DTF is not responsible for transfers damaged by incorrect temperature, time, pressure, peeling, unsuitable garments, or application equipment.

Testing is strongly recommended before pressing a full production order.
